I wasn’t quite sure what to write about today – which is odd because usually I have a plethora of ideas just waiting for me to get them down, but today none of the little notes scattered across my desk are speaking to me. What IS speaking to me is this quote that I posted on my Facebook page. I shared it from the page of my friend/mentor/inspiration/coach/and the list goes on and on… Amber Ludwig.

The quote is this:

“Start where you are. Use what you have. Do what you can.” -Arthur Ashe

I shared the quote, and it has become my motto for the day (and probably should remain the motto for EVERY day) because it’s the reminder I needed to just start. I will never get to point B if I don’t leave point A. I have to start – without waiting for things to be perfect, without waiting until I have all the possible tools and resources I think I may need. I just need to start, where I’m at, right now… today.

Sure, there’s a lot of things I need (or at least would make my pursuit easier), but I don’t have them right now. So, I have to use what I have. Eventually, I’ll be able to incorporate the tools that will increase my effectiveness, but until I’m able to claim them, I will do the best with what I have, right now… today.

There’s only so much I can do at one time. Yes, my list goes on endlessly, but if I let that overwhelm me into being stagnant, what good does that do? Baby steps. I’ve said it before (to myself even), one baby step at a time. Movement. Something. Even if it’s sideways or backwards, do something, and course correct along the way. Nobody is perfect – not even me, and you know what, I’ve accepted that and even kind of like my imperfections – it gives me room to grow and learn and change. It’s so much less stress to know you’re imperfect!

In the limited time I have each day to work towards my goal, my dreams, I will do what I can. I will be happy with my progress and I will not beat myself up for not getting it ALL done in one day, or even one week or month. Heck, it’s been over a year since I first envisioned L&MH and helping women with PPD. I just keep plugging away, doing what I can, right now… today.

I challenge you. What is one goal or dream you have, and how can you break it down into baby steps so that you can actually get started, using what you have, doing what you can each day? I would love to hear what you have to say!

Be proud of your accomplishments, and keep moving forward.

With Love & Mommy Hugs.

p.s. I added this great new tool to my website, to help women who are struggling through Postpartum Depression decide if we might be a good fit, working together through my brand new mentorship program, the HAPPY Mommy MethodTM.  Check it out!
